Should your surf course be unable to take place due to the current measures in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, you can reschedule it for a later date or you will receive a full refund of the course fee from us.
This course is the best choice if you only have time on weekends. Within 2 days (Saturday and Sunday, also possible during the week by arrangement) you will learn the basics of kitesurfing. We teach you the practical basic elements and the fundamental knowledge. The beginner kitesurfing course includes a total of 8 course hours.
We structure our kitesurfing courses based on the proven VDWS skill level system (8 levels). In your beginner course, you will reach Level 4 with us.
Here is an overview of the individual steps:
**Step 1**: Basics and Safety
After a safety briefing, we will clearly explain the theoretical basics, including learning wind recognition and the wind window, as well as moving on the water (courses relative to the wind).
**Step 2**: Setup and Kite Control
In this step, you will receive a site briefing and then start with the kite setup, combined with practical safety training on land. You will learn to launch the kite, fly it in a controlled manner, and land it again (both on land and on the water). Afterwards, we will show you how to take down the kite and store it correctly to preserve the material.
**Step 3**: Flight School, Relaunch, and Body Drag
At the beginning of Step 3, we will analyze the elements with you and learn the "power control" of the kite. This is followed by training for controlled active launching, flying, and landing of the kite in the water, and you will learn how to independently relaunch the kite from the water. During the body drag, you actively generate power with the kite and let yourself be pulled across the water without a board by your kite.
**Step 4**: Water Start and Gliding
After you have trained all the basic skills, we will start with the analysis and preliminary exercises for the water start. You will practice starting from shallow water with the board, gliding, and stopping. The shallow water with little wave action is perfect for this, and you will quickly celebrate successes.
After your kite course, you will have initial experience launching, flying and landing the kite safely. Your practical skills will range from setting up the kite to starting the water. Additional days are often required to become really safe.
The area is characterized by its standing depth and smooth water surface, as the sheltered location hardly generates any waves. Additionally, the Salzhaff consists of freshwater, which makes learning to kitesurf more pleasant than in saltwater.
We provide you with the complete surfing equipment (kite, board, wetsuit, and shoes). You just need to pack your swimwear, a large towel, your sunglasses (with a strap), and sunscreen. On warm summer days, flip-flops are sufficient; otherwise, sturdy shoes are advantageous on land.
The training equipment from our material pool is fully insured.
We recommend that you also cover kitesurfing with your liability insurance in the future. The VDWS recommends the so-called SafetyTool (39€/year) including comprehensive protection for rental equipment worldwide, as well as liability and accident protection.
Our trained, VDWS-licensed kite instructors teach you kiting efficiently, and we only go on the water when the wind conditions are right. If that is not the case, we offer our wind guarantee. Unused hours can then be made up at a new appointment or credited towards your next kite course or kite camp. This way, we promote fast and safe learning, and you can make the most of your time on the water.
By the way: We use a motorboat to provide you with optimal training conditions in any wind direction.
The VDWS Kitesurf License is an internationally recognized license. It documents your current kitesurfing level. With a license, you can rent equipment worldwide and kite at spots where a kite license is mandatory.
VDWS License (including preparation, exam, and kiteboarding license): €40
VDWS Kiteboarding Work and Stylebook: €15
You should be at least 15 years old and weigh 55 kg to participate in a kite course or kite camp. For younger children who want to learn kiting, we offer private kitesurfing lessons.
If you are under 18 years old and traveling without your parents, please bring an informal consent form from your parents.
We recommend that you pack a water bottle and a small snack (for example, a bar) for some energy. On-site at the campsite, you can relax after your training at the fish stand with the most delicious smoked fish and cool drinks right by the water, have lunch at the beautiful Seaside Pepelow restaurant with a view of the lagoon, or visit the beach bar (small snacks, coffee, and cocktails) in the adjacent holiday village San Pepelone. Super delicious soft ice cream from Ilka Eis is available directly across from the surf station, as well as a small supermarket for daily needs.
A surf voucher is a brilliant gift idea, as a surfing course is a special experience with a high fun factor amidst nature and its elements. Of course, the voucher can also be booked for two people or for a group. You can choose between a course voucher and a value voucher.
In our kite surfing school, for example, there is no “supervised kiting” without a kite instructor standing by your side, helping you and watching you on the water. With us, booking a kite course or a kite camp means: Real lessons with experienced instructors and all surfing equipment included!
